Back to Black

I think I want to marry Amy Winehouse.

What's that? You say she's taken? Taken and a hardcore substance abuser?
Well, yeah. It figures.

No, seriously. I hadn't been familiar with her music until quite recently. I kept hearing her name in sentences that had words like 'Paris Hilton' and 'Britney Spears' in them, so I'd assumed she was just another Britney. I can't remember what made me decide to give her a serious chance, but I'm glad I did.

I've developed really peculiar listening habits over the past few years. When I find something I like, I will listen to it over and over again, losing interest in everything else. This will go on for weeks; sometimes even months. At some point I'll discover something new, and then the old favorite (The Divsion Bell) will be pushed aside and begin to sound annoying. I won't be able to go near it for a while, until I rediscover it at some point, and it becomes a favorite again.

Back to Black is the current favorite. According to iTunes, I've listened to the entire album 35 times in the past 4 days. Something about the fusion between 40s-ish jazz and edgy contemporary lyrics is doing it for me in ways I cannot describe.

So, I couldn't resist going back to black. It's not a melancholy black this time - I think I'm over it. It's more like a happy black, if there is such a thing. I'm happy with these beads. Black is cool, even though working with black glass is a pain in the ass challenge.

I'm feeling very connected to my work lately. It might be the shapes more than the colors. Or maybe both.

Just saw this post of yours about Amy Winehouse. I can't believe it...I had the same attitude towards her due to all that being tossed in with Paris Hilton and Britney. Then I saw her on the Grammys and WOW she is tremendous! I can't stop listening to her or watching her either! Glad to see how she inspired your beads...they're totally cool.
