Glass, Glitter and Gravity

*** Extreme weirdness going on with this post - you can find the information about my first three classes here. ***

And finally... the details for my new workshop!

This should leave Q with no more excuses to be vague about my workshop dates in Murano - so hopefully, I should be able to inform you as to WHEN the hell the classes will be, sometime before the end of March. Woohoo!

You can find information on my other three workshops here.
Hope to see you there! If you have any questions about my classes, feel free to drop me a line - or contact Quinton now to reserve your spot.

Workshop 4: Intermediate / Advanced

Glass, Glitter and Gravity

This one-day workshop will focus on two main elements:

  1. Using gravity control to produce eye-catching patterns and create interesting curvy shapes with lots of depth and sparkle, with minimal use of tools.

2. Incorporating “glitter” into your beads – in form of gold foil, palladium leaf and dichro. We’ll learn how to get the best     results with these materials, Sarah-style.

The class will include 3-4 focal beads and loads of fun!

Projects:

1. Gravity Basics + Dichro

We’ll begin the class with a few creative ways of using gravity and learn to work with dichroic glass strips for extra sparkle.

2. Gold

What could be more fun than fooling around with 23-karat gold? We’ll learn to encase it to create a ‘Pirate’s Gold’ bead and even burn it away to make gilded ivory.

3. Palladium

Palladium leaf is the funkiest metal out there! We’ll be using it in two different ways – encasing it for a magical sparkle and leaving it on the surface to bring out the wild colors.

4. Silk

I will share some of my recently-discovered techniques to create a “silk” bead, using your choice of gold or palladium for added bling!

5. Q&A Session

Required knowledge:

General experience in beadmaking, shaping, pulling stringers and applying them, dot placement, encasing, etc.

Thanks Kerry! I wish you could come too, that would be awesome. We should definitely have a torchplaydate someday.
I was born in Buffalo, but only spent the first few months of my life there so I don't remember much... my aunt and uncle used to live in Rochester. I think I was even there a couple of times.

Hey Sarah ~ Raku secrets? Please? If you have a book for sale, I want to buy it!!!! I'd LOVE to have one of your books of instruction!!!!! Awesome stuff, that would be. You could even do a video disc and put that in the book!! (of course those secret designs that are totally signature Sarah Hornik should go untalked about) Now talk about good content! That would be so in demand - am I right, Sarah fans?

Sarah! Congrats on your upcoming workshop gig! I haven't had a chance to read other comments to this blog entry, but has anyone suggested that you have all 3 workshops videotaped/filmed? I'm in Arizona in the US and although I'd love a trip to Holland and Belgium, I just can't swing that at this time! Anyway, I, for one (and I'm sure there are hundreds of others out there too), would purchase all 3 videos of your workshop!! Let us, all your fans, know if you've thought about this and if it may come to fruition!!
