New Reasons to Love Vetrofond

As if there weren't enough as it is...
For the past few days, I've been playing around with a new batch of odd lots from Vetrofond - courtesy of Q & G, aka my favorite people in the world right now. You gotta love Vetrofond for coming out with these huge batches of new colors that don't look like anything else on the market. Well, I know I do. I can't wait to see what they'll come up with next.

The current odd lots are actually quite odd, in more ways than one... the rods are made of two or three layers of different colors, some in weird combinations that don't really sound good in theory, but seem to work pretty well anyway. This layering results in beads with swirly/streaky effects, that remind me of polished stone. Some of the beads have an agate-ish look, and everyone knows how much I love agates... (right?)

My favorites so far:
Red Jasper, which comes in light and dark versions of a gorgeous shade of red (and just last night it occurred to me that maybe the reason I like it so much is that it's just about the same red as the "by Sarah" in my 'Glass by Sarah' logo).
Lichen, which also comes in light and dark and has an outer layer of some sort of translucent something-or-other and an inner layer of blue. They should have named this color 'Organic Heaven'. (What's a 'lichen', anyway? Ummm, just looked it up and I wish I hadn't. I think I want to be a color-namer someday.)
And Odd Topaz - a very odd color indeed. Who would have thought topaz would look nice with a blue center? I certainly didn't, but I was pleasantly surprised with the results.

Here are the best of the beads. More to come.
