People are strange. So are beads, sometimes.

I got a message from an eBay member a few days ago, telling me my beads are very beautiful - kinda strange, but very beautiful. Strange? Haha. I decided to take it as a compliment. I mean, strange can be a good thing, right? Many of the most interesting things in the world are kinda strange.

Anyway, as far as strange goes, this new design I've been working on is probably one of the strangest yet. I call them 'wrapped beads'. They start out as an ordinary, unstrange tube-shaped bead. Then, I heat the glass on one end and when it gets soft I pull it into a stringer or a twistie, then I wrap that around the other end of the bead. I really like these - and they are fun to make. I started out by making them in Moretti glass, then I decided to try it with Satake - which I think works better because it is so soft. Check them out:

If you don't like them, you can blame Brad - they were his idea, I swear.

    Hey Sarah!

Those do look nice in Satake - course, everything you do looks nice in Satake, even if this shopmonkey does say so himself (which he does). ^_^

Unless I'm mistaken, looks like you tried the encasing colors in clear trick to get better definition. How'd it work out for you? Does it provide enough def for you, or are the edges still to soft?

Please don't say they're too soft, you'll make poor shopmonkeys cry from disappointment...

Hey Chris! Thanks, I knew you'd be proud.
Yeah, I tried the encased stringer thing - seems to be working better! I'm having a weird problem with the clear though - I'll e-mail you.
