New Set + Site Updates

Hello AGAIN! (Would you believe?)

Here's a new set I made this week. It's called Elements - inspired by the concept of the four elements: earth, air, fire and water. I'm very happy with how it came out!

[eBay]

And speaking of unbelievable - I updated the Designers' Gallery on my site today. Yes! I actually did it! Check out the wonderful work of Carolyn Amos, Linda Lee Tritton and Melanie Schow.

You probably know this already, but here's a reminder: if you have photos of jewelry made with my beads and you'd like to be in the gallery, you are more than welcome to send them to me: sarah.hornik@gmail.com.

Sarah, truly this new set is just amazing! I talked to my husband about it and he's like, "NO! You can't bid!" Haha... Although, sometimes it's better to ask forgiveness than permission. *evil grin*

Anyway-- thank you so much for adding me to the designer gallery, and I love what you did with my poor little photos!!

    Hey Sarah!

I would have posted on your previous entry where you talked about Satake, but I didn't read it until now and that was from sooo long ago (net-time wise, anyway) that I assumed it would sadly go unread...

Anyway, the beautiful soft transitions between colors on a Satake bead come with a price - it likes to spread, even when you don't want it to! However, there is an easy solution - pull your color stringers encased in clear. It doesn't even have to be very thick, you just need some so the clear is the medium that the colors on either side "sublimate" into, and not each other. Try it, and you'll find that your colors will be sharp and defined (or, at least as sharp and defined as Satake gets, but that's why we love it!).

Hope this helps, and don't give up on Satake - you've really taken to it, and we think it kinda likes you, too. ^_^

    Loves and kisses,
    shopmonkeys

PS We're getting in lots and lots of lead glass soon! We'll be sure to let you (i.e. Sarah) know as soon as it's here...

      Hey Shopmonkey Chris!
Yeah, I was probably a bit too harsh on the Satake. Now I feel like playing with it some more. I will definitely try the encased stringer thing.
Can't wait for the new glass! I desperately need some more white. I don't use a lot of white in 104 glass, but in this case, white seems to be the base for everything. So please do let me (i.e. Sarah) know when it arrives!
      Thanks for reading and commenting!

You can be as harsh as you like - mad glass skilz has its prerogatives. ^_^

Oh, and if you get the newsletter, you will already know that it arrived! I don't know if you will consider it comment spam for me to do this and then hate me forever, but here's a list of the lead glass we got in...
        G-01 Clear, G-19 Margarita, G-21 Ruby Veil, G-22 Black, G-23 White, G-25 Wispy White, G-26 Raspberry Sorbet, G-30 Celadon, G-34 Mango, S-01 Tanzanite, S-02 Olive (transparent), S-16 Dark Violet-Blue, S-17 Wisteria, S-23 Orchid,
        S-31 Olive (opaque)
Limited for now, sure, but a pretty good starting palette, given we had to pare the list down this point from over 30 "must haves" ! Oh well - in time we'll have them all. But we want them now! Now now now now now! Sigh.

        Loves and kisses,
        Shopmonkeys

Awww, Chris, I could never hate you.
Even though you are making me buy more glass when I already bought WAY TOO MUCH this month.
I think you are evil, but I love you anyway.
