Saturday Special - June 24, 2006: Free Beads!
Remember when I told you how I always get overwhelmed when I get new glass colors? This is getting to be a serious problem. On weeks when I get new glass, I'm always much less productive, which leaves me feeling a little frustrated.
First, I have to make millions and millions of test beads, making it diificult to focus on anything else. Then, when I decide it's time to make a bead set, I have to spend hours thinking what colors to use first. And then, it never seems like enough colors. The thought process: "I think I'll make a set in greens. Hey, but what about the new blue? Green and blue would work together, wouldn't they? And what about this wonderful orange? Could I throw that in and get away with it? Sure, I'll just tell everyone it's 'summer colors'. But what about the olive, I don't want to make it feel left out! And I should really use some turquoise. I like turquoise. And maybe some coral, to go with the orange? Is this going to be too much color? Naaaaa."
And the results are always, some errr... funky-looking beads.
So. This week we're going to have a different kind of Saturday Special - the free kind! I had a contest like this once on Flickr and it was very successful and a lot of fun, so I'm trying it again here.
This is how it works:
Help me name this bead set.
If I like the name, the beads are yours, absolutely FREE!

Too much color? YOU be the judge!
The rules:
- You can suggest as many names as you like.
- Anyone can participate.
- Please leave the names in the comments to this entry (don't e-mail them to me, that wouldn't be fair.)
- I will pick a winner on Sunday at midnight (Israel time, click here for a world time clock).
- As usual, shipping is on me, wherever you are.
- Be creative!

These beads are approx. 1cm (0.45") in diameter. The strand is 5.7cm (2.3") long.
Good luck!!

At first look I thought of kaleidoscope for all the swirls of colors but then for some reason Kabuki came to mind-a japan-ise drama in which dances and songs are performed in a stylized fashion-WOW

Okay, I actually did some research to come up with these names , so it wasn't like I pulled them out of thin air! I do the same thing when I name my bracelets, so I figure the name has to be something important or reflect some meaning of the artist. So I came up with:
Perfect Sense or Ca Ira (both Roger Waters references) and Amnon's Pride (based on the name of your instructor. And you can actually substitute pride with any word you want, such as "footsteps" "prodigy" "gift" etc.) So there you go! It is hard to find a name that do your beads justice. They are stunning!

These are lovely. They make me think of Marrakech, and I think that would be a good name for them.

These beads remind me of the leaves in the fall mixed with the sea off the coast of Florida...so I think Undersea Autumn would be good. Now I really want to go to the beach

Somehow, these colors remind me of diving, of the wonderful bright colours of fish and coral... inmerse in their natural turquoise blue, of course! So there go a couple!
